This is definitely not an example of typical Japanese home designing. Villa-K was developed by Cell Space Architects and is located in Karuizawa, Nagano. Situated on a hilltop, this residence did not have to deal with space constraints, which is why its overall appearance could remind one of a typical modern American home. Built around a central sustaining pillar, Villa K is made out of four floors built on different levels. Windows connect the four otherwise separate volumes and offer the owners a 360 degree panorama of the surrounding landscape. The interior design is minimalist and inspirational. The open floor plan allows an abundance of natural light and provides a few great places for socializing. We particularly like the storage cabinets situated below the widow levels, as they are very practical and don´t obstruct the views.
