The Harvest

The Harvest

Depicting a scene from Arles in the south of France, Vincent Van Gogh’s exquisite The Harvest (La Moisson) is a significant contribution to the artist’s lifelong study on color technique.

It combines the bright blue sky with a green- and gold-toned landscape to perfectly capture the atmosphere of the wheat fields on a hot summer day, complete with a reaper in the background.

This work is a strong example of Van Gogh’s depictions of peasant life and land work – a theme which is represented throughout his repertoire – and is currently housed in the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam.
